Animals have always been a part of the human landscape, as such they play an important role in our daily setting. Capturing this unity with nature is what drives me to create social awareness of the plight of stray animals through the medium of print design. Each day, countless homeless dogs and cats wander the streets of Karachi. These animals are often victims of neglect and abandonment. In Pakistan over the past couple of years, there has been an unprecedented rise in the stray dog population, with over 3 million stray dogs in the country, it is unfortunate that their rights are often compromised. Keeping in mind the severity of the issue, I have utilized a satirical approach to draw awareness and highlight their importance. Humor has been actively used by many artists in the past, as an expression, to rethink and review a deeper meaning of reality. Therefore, through my design I have depicted an imagery with cheerful characters engaged in everyday activities of the street, as they have observed human beings around them. The project employs a playful glimpse into a utopic Pakistan, where stray animals are in leading roles driving the daily routine of life. This approach also hints to emphasize the cultural tendencies of street life in Pakistan.
