There is a huge market for athleisure wear, however, this increases the amount of textile waste which contributes a large proportion of microplastics in the environment, accompanying huge ecological and health costs. Tending to basic questions on how we produce, use and discard garments and different materials in a sustainable way might be influential in the long haul. Therefore, the concept for this project revolves around upcycling pre-consumer waste, using OP art as a source to derive patterns and create interest within the silhouette of the garments by accentuating different parts of the body.
