Choghari: Sustaining heritage by repurposing old saris

The goal of my project was to produce a sustainable bespoke semi-formal collection. I decided to work with saris which are worn-out, needing a new life. This would not only revive their purpose but also save them from going to waste. This challenging project required me to design intelligently as the fabric of the sari was limited. My source was the Mughal garment “Chogha” through which I translated the borders and volume of the sari keeping functionality and convenience in mind. Finally, my end-product, Choghari, is a combination of the Chogha and the Sari keeping our rich heritage intact.
