From north to south, Pakistan is blessed with awe-inspiring natural landscapes which can attract local and international tourism in efforts to benefit both local and national economies. Here, tourism architecture has a significant role to play, but it must first and foremost seek to protect and conserve these landscapes. Inappropriate development can easily degrade natural habitats, deplete natural resources, and generate waste and pollution, hence disrupting entire ecosystems. This thesis advocates for adoption of sustainable design strategies within the domain of tourism architecture; strategies that not only respond to climatic and topographical conditions of natural landscapes, but remain sensitive towards embedded histories and cultures of the same.
