User Group:

An old pumping station, located in the heart of Saddar town, is irreversibly tied to the optimism of late 18th-century water drainage technology and the project’s subsequent inefficiency, trapped in a state of tension between permanence and decay, the future and the past. This thesis reimagines the industrial ruin as a social connector that allows people to look at the city through trace and frame of history while providing opportunities for shared public interactions.
